Strange Fruit. Skirt is composed out of death certificates. Inspired by the Nina Simone song Strange Fruit and the numerous deaths loss over the years in instances of police brutality.
T'd Shirt. 8 x 8. Strips of t-shirt tied together.
cut it. 8 x 8 in. Hair braids bundled together by stitches.
Read Receipts. 8 x 8. A personal piece, my last receipt from Chicago (before I left for school) and all the receipts from Wisconsin (money spent during school), stitched together overlapping with other receipts.
link. 8 x 8 in. Wrapped q-tips linked together with a thread.
HAIR TIES. 9 x 9. Cut up scrunchies knitted together.
Wood-grain. 9.1 x 7.6 in. Stitched using white thread, following the traditional Shibori wood-grain stitch, and dyed in indigo.
round n round. 7.3 x 7.9 in. Circles were stitched into the linen fabric and dyed in indigo.
Circles and Folds. 7.4 x 7.4 in. Circles, triangles, and folds stitched on the linen fabric and then dyed in indigo die.
Blu. 7.1 x 6.8 in. Random stitches on the linen fabric and dyed in indigo.
ADINKRAH ATTEMPT. 7.5 x 7.8 in. Corners stitched using the wood-grain stitch, the middle attempted to recreate an adinkrah/ Egyptian symbol, dyed in indigo.
BAM-BOO. 26 x 15.2 in. Linen wrapped around a pole and strapped with over 15 rubber bands (tightly) and dyed in indigo dye.

Endeavors in Shibori. All of the experimental pieces died in indigo using the traditional Japanese techniques.
ROOTZ. 31 x 9.4 in. Cloth tied onto a pole using the any-ol-way technique, wrapped with string, and dyed in indigo.
